Musician Nick Cave was invited to write a version by Russell Crowe and Sir Ridley Scott
Synopsis
After his house is captured by the tyrannical emperors who now rule Rome, Lucius is forced to enter the Coliseum and must turn to the past in order to find the strength to return the glory of Rome to its people. In the years since the release of the first film, there have been many attempts to write a sequel. His version focused on the more mythical elements of Ancient Rome and depicted Maximus arriving in the afterlife only to meet with other souls who have yet to ascend higher. In the end, Jupiter and other Roman deities instructed him to return to earth to find and kill Hephaestus, the former god who betrayed them.
Lucius: Power and honor
From there he is resurrected as a Christian and returns to Rome with a mission to stop the spread of Christianity, at the same time crossing paths with the new emperor Lucius. The film ends with Maximus cursed to live forever, with montages of soldiers fighting during the Crusades, World War II, and the Vietnam War, eventually showing a modern-day Maximus working at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. The studio decided not to release this version, but the script is available for reading on the Internet. Featured in The 7PM Project: Episode 3 July 2024 (2024).
They managed to build Rome in a wonderful way, I was completely immersed in the story of Lucius, the prince of Rome
Gladiator II. Being able to see “Gladiator” (2000) in the cinema before showing “Gladiator 2” has to be one of the best movie experiences I’ve ever had, if not the best! I was amazed at the scale of the film from the very beginning and throughout the film, knowing that it did not take that long to create…
Lucius’ story was good, I don’t think it could have been better
I don’t really care about historical accuracy, if someone can make a movie that big, I don’t mind, and Ridley Scott is known for not being that accurate, but he’s also known for being very effective and one of the best actors. Hollywood directors. Although it is dramatic that the film was not so strong, probably because of the pace, it was a very fast film and again effective. Most of all I liked the characters, the actors did a wonderful job, especially Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington himself.
Sharks in the Coliseum!
The twin emperors were pretty crazy, and we had some fun times with them… Gladiator 2 is definitely not a perfect movie, but it has everything a Gladiator fan needs after so long. Ridley Scott has lost his mind.
